Blue Cross retail centers built strong community connections in 2017December 6, 2017
Have you ever visited a Blue Cross retail center? Or maybe seen the Blue Cross retail team at a local event? If not, now is a great time to stop by and talk with one of the center’s many health insurance experts— who are also active members of their local communities.
Blue Cross has retail center locations in Duluth, Roseville and Edina. Each center provides sales support and face-to-face customer service to anyone with a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota membership card.
However, the centers are definitely not “members only” clubs – everyone in the community is welcome to learn more about the many free health-related classes held at the centers, or talk with someone about how a Blue Cross plan can address their health needs.
Community connections matter
The three Blue Cross retail centers are more than convenient destinations for people who need health plan assistance. Engaging with the community is the backbone of how the retail center teams go above and beyond to connect with the people they serve.
“From marching in local parades and displaying local artist’s works on the walls to offering our community space to local nonprofits for meetings and gatherings, our teams are focused on building a strong and positive community presence wherever they go,” says Kari Kehr, principal consumer markets business consultant.
As team members are out in the community, they help get the word out about what the centers have to offer.
“The traffic at each location is increasing rapidly year-over-year, with class attendance, sales and service visits increasing each year the stores are open,” says Kehr.
2017 was a year of community building
For as busy as team members are, some of their favorite activities are getting out and about in the cities where they are located.
So far, in 2017, the Roseville retail team has participated in more than 50 community activities including local festivals, YMCA partnerships, local health fairs and the Friends of the Library 5K.
The Edina retail team shared their expertise at a senior expo, a medical summit and shared in the delicious fun at the Taste of Edina event.
The Duluth retail team represents a wide swath of northeastern Minnesota and spends a great deal of time out in the community. From small town Medicare education sessions to Senior Appreciation Days, the team has participated in nearly 100 events so far in 2017.
“We want to have a positive influence on the people within the communities we serve and make a difference to those we interact with,” says Kehr.
If 2017 is any indication, the retail center team members are well poised to continue helping the people of Minnesota discover new opportunities to live healthier lives.
